Pyramids of Giza - Egypt

For literacy our focus is working on different styles of writing. For our information report we had a choice between the pyramids of egypt or the extreme weather. The most challenging thing for me was finding the facts. The easiest thing was planing what I was going to write.



Information Report - Egypt Egyptian Pyramids The ancient Egyptians built pyramids as tombs for the pharaohs and their queens. The pharaohs were buried in pyramids of many different shapes and sizes from before the beginning of the Old Kingdom to the end of Middle Kingdom. There are about eighty pyramids known today from ancient Egypt. Egyptian Mummies A mummy is the person of a body ( or an animal ) that has been preserved after death. They were any Egyptian who could afford to pay for the expensive process of preserving their bodies for the afterlife. The Egyptians Believed in life after death. How old is Egypt? Introduce. Archaeologists believe Egypts large pyramids are the work of the Old Kingdom society that rose to prominence in the Nile Valley after 3000 B.C. Historical analysis tells us that the Egyptians built the Giza Pyramids in a span of 85 years between 2589 and 2504 BC.

My Celebration

For the last 2 weeks we have been learning about celebrations in different cultures. I wrote about my birthday. I wrote it as a recount. The hardest thing was to put the paragraphs in order.

My Birthday at Home

“Happy Birthday Sweetheart “ Says my mum as I wake up extremely tired.

In our house we Celebrate mine and Haylee's birthday. We like to open our presents in the morning. Most of the time we have to have our birthdays at home because Mum can’t afford to go out anywhere.

Our birthday is at home. Sometimes our birthday is on a school day that makes it more fantastically amazing. When my birthday is a school day I go to my friends, and say “It’s my Birthday today” Usually I shout it out loud so that some people know its my birthday.

Mine and Haylee’s birthday is on the 9 of April. Nothing that I know of is on the same day. The only thing that I know is that I share a birthday with a older sister which doesn't like to share. When I saw the presents she got I ask to share she shouts “ No “.

We celebrate our birthday because it’s a celebration. Haylee and I like celebrating this one day because the day before our birthday we spend the whole day playing with each other. I will always remember this day, Now and Forever.

I like to spend with my sister because she usually plays with Caleb and not me. So that is why I like the 9 of April.

Bunyip Staying

This week we have been learing about persasive writing. perswasive writing is where we are trying to convice somebody to do something. We read a book called "A Bunyip in the billabong". We had to persade the villagers to stay in the billabong if we were going to be the bunyip. If we were the villagers we would be trying to convice the bunyip to move out of the billabong and move.

Dear Villagers

Please don’t make me leave my billabong. I have been in this billabong for over 110 years and nobody has been here to tell me to move out of my house. If you leave me here I will do and be:

a famous super star because I can get photos taken by the tours I will be really famous. I could even have all of my favorite foods when I get so famous.

If you let me stay I will be a real help for birthday parties and how they will be the best parties your kids could ever have. Parties are my thing I make it so that the kids have rides without  buying any rides.

I believe that I am able to not be so annoying  and make loud noises that wake up the Villagers. I don’t want to get everybody to wake up and scream.” It's a Bunyip. It is after us all!!!

AHHHHHHH.”

So you see I am really good. Please leave me in my billabong. It is nice how I like it. It does not need to be clean and clear, I hate that type of cleaness. So you can see I am a big help to the village. Please can I stay?

Alarm Call

We have been learning to write a story of a picture and put an unexpected twist to it.
I have done a story about The Alarm Call.  I had to reflect on the photo and also put a unexpected twist. My twist is at the bottom of the page. I hope you enjoy my story.Lets read!!

Alarm Call

“Is this a white soft marshmallow on this little spotted pillow?”  Said the Monster.  ”It looks so yummy to eat.  I wonder why it has legs on it and why has it got a smile?” He said when he was looking right at the cute Fluff ball thing.  He was going to crab it but suddenly the marshmallow moved.”  That's no marshmallow that is a kitten. I am not going to eat a tiny, small kitten because it will get hair in my throat.”

There was a Monster and a cute fluffy kitten just like a marshmallow.   This troll looks like a wicked, angry monster that is like 100 years old and never been found for some reason.  He has a big bushy beard that has not been brushed for ever. The old yucky thing has long finger nails that needs to be clipped really badly.  This monster has green skin with dark pink warts that need to be burnt off.  There is a kitten that is sleeping peacefully just like sleeping beauty.

The cute kitten had a wee smile on her as if she was dreaming about some delicious meat.

While the monster was creeping around the kitten it moved from sleeping to scare position.

The Monster bent down with his green warty hands and scooped up the little fuzzball.

Last day of learing jorney

This week we have been doing learing journey. This is our final day on our learning jorney. For our first activity we had to say 3 things that why you do not want people leaving rubbish around. For the second one we had to relax some how and take a snapshot. For the last activity we had to make a video of what we have been learning, how we liked being on a trip with Curious Kiwi. Bread making

Walt- Make a recount of bread



In tearm 2 we had eaten bread. First we had made the bread before we eat it because it would only be dough. Here is my writing on bread making.

Bread Making

Mmmm! We must be making bread? Yesterday we made bread in the classroom with Mrs Jack and the yr 5 and 6 students. We made bread for our Inquiry about healthy eating.

We had to wash our hands and put the ingredients and equipment out ready to start baking. We had to combine the ingredients in a bowl and look at the recipe we got given to look at and read. We had to measure some flour with a measuring cup.

Mrs Jack pushed down on the dough and she used her heel of her hand.She pushed down then folded the dough. She kneaded the dough to spread the air bubbles.

We had to put a blue striped tea towel over the bowl we had to put something on it because dirt,dust or something over because it is sitting there for an hour. We had to leave it in a warm place for a hour to rise. Yeast makes air bubbles buff up. The oven was on to preheat.

After a hour Mrs Jack knocked the bread back and kneaded it again. We shaped it as an oval. Mrs Jack left it to prove in another place which was room 9 the warmest classroom because room 9 gets the heat first and that makes it so hot.

It tasted like scones that are crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. I thought that the bread making was so much fun ,it made me hungry because, I love bread so much that it tasted like hot scones !

The M Madness

We are learing to use any letters that you whant an put them in words for a poem. I chosse M because I thought it would be easy.

• I would never eat mixed,Mcdonald ,meals on Mondays.
• I would never wear a messy mud dress with my mum.     

• I would never buy a mini,minecraft,magnetic,mode with money.

• I would never read a mini,main,modern motor.
• I would never go to Machilipatnam with a moody,man that mends motors.
• I would always like to move into a middle,main place to a mad mistake.
• And I promise...that i will never meet a messy,Murder that moved into a much,murkier place.

Antarctica work

For Literacy we are learning aboutAntartica over the past few weeks.We went to the Antarctic centre for a school trip.

ANZAC

For the last two weeks we have been learning about ANZAC Day and Why we Remember the people who risked their lives for our freedom and our way of life.

We read stories about ANZAC one of them was about Animal Mascots.We had peaces of sheets to share between our groups we had pens to write with.

We had a special visitor who was (Connie's Nan )that showed us about a soldiers penny. We had to do a research of the soldiers penny.We had to make sure that we had what was on it and who got given it.We had to make that a drawing docs or a slide.

We watched some videos about Gallipoil and how it happened and what type of day it was.

My Ladybug writing

This week we had to do our own Information report of our choice of an inset I did a ladybug and this is my writing.  for an information report we had to have     Title General Statement Description and evaluation.
we had to do some research about our insect  we had to make sure in our writing we had  what they eat,there habitat,,what they look like and what they do.

That Was Summer Poem

In Writing we were learning about alliteration and adjectives.

First we had to share our ideas in small groups and then we brainstormed our ideas onto the board.After we set off to do our independent writing.When we had finished we had to make our sentence better and wow words. We used a recount about summer.

Spencer Park

Spencer Park

Yay the First trip of the year! The 4-6 children and teachers went to Spencer Park last Friday. We went to get to know the teachers and children better from the other home rooms.

First we had morning tea. We sat under a tree for some shade because it a Blazing hot day at Spencer Park.Then Mr Breach had taken as over to the playground. The first thing I went on was the slide.The slide was kind of long after i went on the slide i went to go and play in the sand because there was some amazing fun furniture to play on it was`ent the beach.

After we had got called in to go to the beach.At the beach it was really hot but we maneged to get over it we made towers it was not really a competition it was all about having the best time.When Mrs Jack,Mrs didinnington and Mrs Rasin were thinking who will win the towers. We had running races I was the first in the first group it was all girls.Then the judges judged whose tower Had been the tallest,who collaboratived and and whose was the decorative one.After that we went back and had some lunch and then we went back over to the playground again to play on some more playground staff it was getting hotter every minute and we had taken some sports equipment to play with when it was time to line up to go back to school I played volleyball and then we lined up in our class then we went over to the bus and sat down until we got back to school.
