Fingerprints - Forensics Science

Definition:

Fingerprints are how police can fiqure out who had done the scene and whos the crimminal

Finger prints

Aim: To look at the different types of fingerprints.

Materials: 

  1. Fingers x2 - Index and Thumb (own fingers)  
  2. Ink Pad  
  3. Ballon

Steps
  1. Put your fingers in the inkpad  
  2.   Ligthly press it onto the balloon
  3.   Blow it up
  4.    Record what happens
  5.   take photos

Conclusion:

 I didnt really know what type of fingerprints I had but I know that it was hard to tell. This experiment was really different for me as I never knew how to acctually do this and I also didnt know that its what the police do but without the ink. This was really fun. 
Questions:
Do people always have the same type of fingerprint on their thumb and index finger?
No they dont
What was the most common type of fingerprint in your group?
There was none as I was the only one in my group.

Dusting fingerprints:

Lifting fingerprints

Aim: To learn how to lift hidden fingerprints from an object.

1. Lifting and Gathering fingerprints.

Equipment:
  1.   Plastic
  2.   White Powder
  3.   Brush
  4.   Black Paper
  5.  Tape
  6. Magnfying glass
Method: 
  1. Press your finger on your previous plastic
  2. Press it onto the stiky side of tape 
  3. Place the tape on the black paper
  4. Use a magnifying glass
  5.  Look at the findings
  6. Record the findings

Conclusion Questions:

What could you do to improve your results next time?
Do it propaly as it was hard to see what I had as to apose I have different Fingerprints
Why do you think fingerprints are useful to crime scene investigators?
They can really see who is the crimminal as if they dont find them they will still be out there
