Hangi

On Friday we had a hangi. We have been learning about hangis and Matariki. Matarkiki is the Maori New Year.
Hangis can be made wusing either railway irons or hangi stones. The most challenging part for me was when we had to peel the veges. When we were peeling, I was in the carrot peeling group. After we had all finished the carrots we moved on to help the group of people that were peeling the potatoes. We got it all finished in time. We got it done before the time we had to get ready. The most easy part, was the peeling carrots, because carrots are long and the potatoes are round. We had to bring our own peelers.  Here are some photos of the Hangi being prepared, ready, and getting cooked:
