Drama - Blogging

Puppet Show

For drama this week we have been making puppets around bullying. I was in a group with Keghan. We made people and 1 piece of fruit. We had Skylar the Bully, Shine the little Kid, Layla the Helper and Victor the Victim. Our movie was around bullying by telling the Teacher on the bully, bully's are not OK. If they are hurting or not being nice in a different way you have to tell a teacher so that they can sort it out, otherwise your problem will just stay and it may even get worse. We made a cringy video tell us what you think about it.....

Puberty

This week we have been learning bout change and challenges which is puberty. Puberty is a very important stage of your life as it changes you into a Woman/ Man from a young adult to an adult. Puberty is serous and you should never laugh about it as every body would of either gone through it or is going to go through it. Maybe you have gone through it but don't ever make fun of people that has it as that is really rude. The teacher/Nurse used the real terms for the names like Penis and Virginia. It may be funny but everybody has to learn about it through their years. There were a few laughs in the classroom but not many after that. We have to know the aspects of growing into a man or woman.

Revolution Team Tour

On Tuesday we went to see the Revolution Team. As soon as Mrs Shehata let us inside it was time to go. She told us to dump our bags inside and go and line back up outside. Whilst we were walking to the auditorium I was telling myself in my head, " Who is the group? I've never seen them before". We got inside and there was a lot of people around the doors. I was a little scared as I've never, ever seen this Team before in my life and I got waves and High Fives from the team. I didn't even know them! Like what?. This guy named Reggie Dolos was funny. But we had some fun. He was playing songs on a trumpet. He was amazing at it like come on! He played Let it go. And more but I didn't know what the other songs are but O' well. He shared us a really sad story of him. He got abandoned when he was I think 5? I don't remember. His parents said he was a mistake. I got upset because it was really sad. He told us that story, It was because he got bullied. My fav part was listening to his sad story of his life. This was the Revolution Team. Also it was a Tour.

Hurumanu - Science

In groups of 3 you are going to need to use your forensic knowledge to solve a crime. You must use the web page: Barefoot Burglar Evidence

  1. Determine which of the four suspects is the "Barefooted Burglar"?
  2. What do you think was the motive for this crime?
  3. Write the results of your findings and convince a jury of your peers

The Crime

At approximately 7:15 a.m., Friday morning, Mrs. King, the science teacher, thought something was fishy as she walked down the hall and noticed that her door was open. She walked into her classroom and immediately discovered that the small aquarium had been broken and her prized gold fish were gasping in the sink. Beside the broken aquarium were the shattered remains of the pink piggy bank that had been on the shelf above the aquarium. A can of blue paint was spilled on the floor. Footprints of a barefooted burglar led to an open window. Bits of a white powdery substance were found next to the broken, empty, piggy bank. The only other item found was a half-eaten large chunk of chocolate candy.

When the police arrived they immediately began to gather forensic evidence.

Dan the Man

Height : 176 cm
Alias: The General
Dan was wearing a woolen general's uniform with small holes when apprehended in the woods. He claimed to be gnawing on wood for moisture and insects to practice his survival training. His teeth look like a beavers from gnawing. His wife complains that she never has any baking soda due to Dan's compulsion about storing clothes in mothballs. He thinks the baking soda takes away the mothball smell, so he stuffs his pockets with the substance. Also, his wife reports that her giant chocolate kisses continually disappear from the candy cupboard. He blames their dog Patton, an English bull terrier, who patrols the neighborhood. His neighbors report that Dan loves the military. He was very regimented about playing taps on his bugle every day at sunset until an irate neighbor broke his bugle. Dan has been trying to save money for a new one.
Peg the Leg

Height: 152 cm
Alias: Lucky Lady
Peg is a librarian known for hanging horseshoes and four leaf clovers in her library. Employees say she is so superstitious she insisted on carpeting in the library instead of laying tiles so she would not step on the cracks. She wraps construction zone tape around open ladders so no one can walk under them. Cola bottles litter her office, which she drinks with chocolate chunks. Her teeth are chipped from knocking the bottles against them. She is always throwing salt over her shoulder for good luck and keeps a salt shaker in her purse. Her alibi is that she was busy closing open umbrellas the morning of the crime.

Jake the Jock

                                                                         Height 201 cm
                                                     Alias: Armchair Quarterback

Jake the Jock is known for quoting statistics on every sport from boomerang throwing to sled dogging. His neighbors report that he is the neighborhood pitcher for baseball games. Last year a baseball hit him in the mouth and knocked out his front tooth. This has cramped his eating style of chocolate chunks, candied apples, and corn on the cob. His wife claims that on the morning of the crime Jake was rubbing his hands with cornstarch to keep them dry in preparation for an important baseball game.

Lou Lou

Height: 160 cm
Alias: Sweet Tooth
Lou Lou is so addicted to sugar that she never leaves home without it. She loves to bake sweet things and has an entire pantry full of sugar bins. She claims to have been baking her famous chocolate chunk cookies the morning of the crime (although not a morsel of cookie or chocolate chunk was left when the police arrived.) Lou Lou rarely wears shoes, which often causes her to slip and break things, especially her collection of ceramic pigs.

Evidence:
  • Fingerprints: Sticky, 'swirl' fingerprints were lifted from the aquarium and piggy bank.
  • Footprints: The painted footprints were measured and were for 26 cm feet.
  • Teeth: The chunk of chocolate candy was collected for examination. It appeared there were teeth imprints.
  • White Powder: The white powdery substance by the piggy bank was carefully placed in a plastic bag and taken to the forensic chemist for identification . It had very small grains and when mixed with Iodine it reacted making the colour brown. It did not have a smell.
Name: Dave

Fingerprints: No.
Mouth prints: Has a chipped tooth.
Shoe size: 16
White powder: None found.
Name
Evidence
DanFingerprints: Whorl ( but think its the closest to the susbect)
Mouthprints:  Missing Teeth
Shoe size: Height ( 176cm)
White powder: Baking Soda
PegFingerprints: Arch
Mouthprints: Chipped Teeth
Shoe size: Height ( 152cm)
White powder: Salt
JakeFingerprints: Whorl
Mouthprints: Missing alot of teeth but hes saying hes missing his front tooth.
Shoe size: Height ( 201cm)
White powder: CornStarch
LouFingerprints: Arch
Mouthprints: Perfect Teeth or None
Shoe size: Height ( 160cm )
White powder: Sugar

Findings: ( what did you find. Summarise what you have written in the table above)

We found that Dans Fingerprints are a whorl but we also think that they are the closest to the crime, IHis mouthprints have missing teeth. Dans heightis 176cm NZ height. The White Powder that he loves or was working with was Baking Soda. Pegs Fingerprints came out to be and Arch, She always has chipped teeth and lost teeth from banging her teeth on the bottles. Her height is 152 cm, we also found out that she had a bottle of sugar in her purse and gets a pinch and throws it over her shoulder for "Good Luck". Jakes fingerprints are a whorl. The mouthprints from Jake was the missing teeth but he says hes only lost his front tooth even though theres more missing teeth at the back. His height is 201 cm. He was with cornstartch at the time when the scene happened. Lou has an Arch for her fingerprint. We cant figure out if she has Perfect teeth or None, I thonk thats its none because she loves lots of sweets. Her Height is 160cm and because she loves sweets she has lots of sugar jars in her cupboard as well.

Verdict: ( who is the burglar and why)

I think that its either Dan the Man or Peg the Leg. Because Dan blamed the dog from feeding the chocolate kisses to him. Peg knokes her teeth out by the bottles as shes drinking but it looks like she has only chipped them although there are a lot of teeth marks in the chocolate chunk, I also think that Lou gave Peg a cocolate cookie from the chuck it must of fell out of the cookie.

Hurumanu - The feet can measure the height.

THE FEET CAN MEASURE THE HEIGHT

The bones of the feet can tell a lot about a person. What do feet reveal about a person's height? Forensic anthropologists team up with law enforcers to help solve crimes.
Bones of the feet can reveal an interesting fact about an individual. Let's combine math with forensics to see how.

Image result for foot chart sizeImage result for foot to height ratio chart
Aim:  To use forensic science techniques to measure the height of a criminal.

Material:

  1.  Human - Foot/height
  2. 1 metre Ruler

Steps:

  1.  Get a metre ruler
  2.  Measure the foot length
  3.  Measure you height
  4.  Record it on the chart
Findings:

Name
Foot  (cm)
Height (cm)
Chloe. M25cm1m & 62cm
Keghan24cm1m 50cm
Chloe. T21cm1m 44cm

Divide the length of each person's foot by his/her height. then multiply it by 100.

Record of the dividing and multiply:

Chloe . M: 15.4320987654
Keghan:
Chloe.T: 14.5833333333

Conclusion:

I had 25 cm for my foot and my height is 162cm. Im surprised. Keghan had 24cm for his foot he also had 150 cm for his height. Chloe.T had 21cm for, her foot whilst having 144cm for her height. We found these findings with a metre ruler.

Its Hard to see

Record the types of fingerprints from those in your group.

Name
Fingerprint 1 (Thumb)
Fingerprint 2 (index finger)
ChloeIts a different type of patterndifferent pattern

Conclusion:

I didnt really know what type of fingerprints I had but I know that it was hard to tell. This experiment was really different for me as I never knew how to acctually do this and I also didnt know that its what the police do but without the ink. This was really fun.
Questions:
Do people always have the same type of fingerprint on their thumb and index finger?
No they dont
What was the most common type of fingerprint in your group?
There was none as I was the only one in my group.

Dusting fingerprints:

Lifting fingerprints

Aim: To learn how to lift hidden fingerprints from an object.

1. Lifting and Gathering fingerprints.

Equipment:
  1.   Plastic
  2.   White Powder
  3.   Brush
  4.   Black Paper
  5.  Tape
  6. Magnfying glass
Method:
  1. Press your finger on your previous plastic
  2. Press it onto the stiky side of tape
  3. Place the tape on the black paper
  4. Use a magnifying glass
  5.  Look at the findings
  6. Record the findings

Results:

Lifted fingerprints

Thumb print
Index finger print

Conclusion Questions:

What could you do to improve your results next time?
Do it propaly as it was hard to see what I had as to apose I have different Fingerprints
Why do you think fingerprints are useful to crime scene investigators?
They can really see who is the crimminal as if they dont find them they will still be out there
